The summer is striking fiercely, perhaps not so much with high temperatures as well as extreme dryness, caused by the wind and the absence for almost two months now of any significant rain. The vegetation turns every day more yellow and dry with the exception of most trees and shrubs which maintain their dark (Quercus coccifera in the image) or light (Almond) green colours. The Mulberry tree (Morus nigra; somewhat left of the centre, next to a wild rose) also defends itself quite well but I watered it generously one week ago. The vegetation on the roof is looking gorgeously. The few liters of rain that have fallen in the last two months were not sufficient for the grass species to survive but for the Sedum species it seems more than enough.

The recently scythed vegetation in the image is on the same terrace as the house and vegetable garden, with deep clayey soil, so the vegetation usually comes up dense and high, making it necessary to cut it every year.

El verano pisa fuerte, quizás no tanto por las temperaturas altas sino por la extrema sequía, causada por el viento y la ausencia prácticamente total de lluvia a lo largo de los dos últimos meses. La vegetación se vuelve cada día mas amarilla y seca, con la excepción de la mayoría de los árboles y arbustos que mantienen su oscuro (Quercus coccifera en la imagen) o luminoso (almendra) color verde. La morera (Morus nigra; algo a la izquierda del centro, al lado de un rosal silvestre) también se defiende bastante bien, pero la regué generosamente la semana pasada. La vegetación sobre el tejado tiene un aspecto maravilloso. Los pocos litros de lluvia caidos en los últimos meses no eran suficientes para los gramíneas pero para las especies Sedum parecen más que suficientes.

La vegetación recientemente segada en la imagen está en la misma terraza que el huerto y la casa, con un suelo arcilloso profundo, así que la vegetación suele crecer alto y denso y hace necesario una siega cada año.
