The vegetable garden and the grey water canal received a thorough overhaul. This canal takes the grey water from the solar shower and the washing machine to a small filtering pond from where it trickles into de vegetable garden. Last summer it got obstructed by the growth of grasses, especially Brachypodium phoenicoides. The black EPDM sheet sticks now more out from the soil and will stop the grass roots more effectively.
Also the vegetable garden needed more protection from `nature becoming too switched on`. It is now completely fenced in to stop the wandering wild boar to plough the soil. I also installed an irrigation system (Poritex) by exudation (`sweating`). It`s relatively cheap, easy to install, automatic and supposedly efficient with water and must help to overcome the difficult dry summer months when I am not always present.

El huerto y el canal para las aguas grises recibieron importantes arreglos. El canal lleva el agua gris de la ducha solar y la lavadora a un pequeño estanque filtro desde donde chorrea al huerto. EL verano pasado se obstruyó por el crecimiento de la hierba, especialmente Brachypodium phoenicoides. La lona negra de EPDM ahora destaca más sobre el suelo y detendrá los raíces de forma más eficaz.
También el huerto necesitaba más protección de una 'naturaleza demasiado activada'. Esta ahora completamente vallado para parar a los jabalíes de labrar la tierra. Instalé también un sistema de riego por exudación (Poritex). Es relativamente barato, fácil de instalar, automático y supuestamente eficiente con el agua y tiene que ayudar a superar los difíciles meses secos de verano cuando no estoy siempre presente.
